You then need to ensure you are testing your ad copy consistently to maximize your CTR.

You then need to make sure you’re taking advantage of the cheap clicks available from the remarketing and video remarketing systems.

You then need to ensure your campaigns are optimized for different devices (laptops, mobiles, tablets) because they all have different conversion characteristics.

You then need to be feeding new keywords found from the Dimensions tab back into your campaign.

You need to make sure that you treat your adwords account as your marketing laboratory – everything you learn from PPC should be fed into your SEO and social marketing efforts.

Bing and Yahoo joined up a while back. Their advertising platform is what started this whole PPC thing in the late 90s. Problem is: it’s not as smart as Google and there’s much less traffic here.

Don’t get confused between Facebook pages and Facebook ads. The ads are a great way of building a list of people that have an interest in what you sell for very low cost.

For example, you can target people based on their age, their geographic location, their sex, marital status, occupation, interests – it really is a great way of targeting people.

BUT – the one big problem with advertising on Facebook is that is that it is a communication medium, not a search medium.

This is a subtle, yet profound difference in doing PPC advertising on Google, where people are actively searching for stuff.

It’s the same reason why advertising to people on their mobile phones has never worked – it annoys people.
